Today is October 12, it is 7am, the wind is out of the North and East in my potager, and it is 57 degrees outside my patio door. Autumn has arrived in SE Louisiana !!!!!
Widely acknowledged in “my neck of the woods” as the best three months of the year, the autumn months on the Gulf Coast of the U.S. are a time of refreshment after the sweltering summer of heat and humidity. This past September was particularly brutal with record heat and high humidity and a worn out populace wearily looking and hoping for that first cold front.
IT HAS ARRIVED THIS MORNING !!!!!
Our thoughts and dreams and plans for the la bonne vie of college football, holiday cooking, turning off the air conditioners, and just plain being outside on purpose may now come to fruition.
Not only is today our first REAL day of Fall, but also election day in Louisiana, the actual Columbus Day holiday, and for this humble writer, only 8 more workdays until retirement from my day-job.
Samhain (sow-in) = Hallowe’en, All Saints, All Souls Day is imminent, the rest of the traditional holidays begin and last through the Easter season and Beltane. It is indeed a day of celebration and good feelings all around.
The followers of this blog can also look forward to updates on the publication process of Madame Langlois’ Legacy, editing, presentations on the publishing process (self and otherwise), our new living room, our new patio, and of course cooking for the holidays and our culinary history.
